CYCLOLENTI: What, Where, How and Why?
BEHIND PHILOSOPHY: REASONS WHY
Marco and Tiphaine are a young couple. Soon, everyone, in his own way, realizes that it is not a good job and a promising career to make them happy. Their life flows in one direction, but deep down, their hearts beat in the opposite direction. For how long they will be able to hide this truth? They had begun to follow the classic order of things: work, gain money, and then finally do what you like. But now that they have succeeded, they realize that it doesn't work for them. "And if for a moment we tried to reverse things's order? And if we tried to follow first what we like? What would happen? ”, They asked themselves. Answering these questions, CycloLenti is born: a long journey, by bicycle, to discover the world and people who try to live differently. The reasons for MARCO Marco is a 30-year-old guy with Neapolitan origins, he is bewitched by a promising career as a sales-man in Milan, and while realizing he is stuck in the "work-gain-spend" routine, he loses his job. Disoriented by the sudden change of wind, trying to get back on his feet, he discovers the charm and the great opportunity of freedom that self-sufficiency and living in a sustainable way can give. He thus decides to reset everything and devote his time to investigate more around all these topics. |
The reasons for TIPHAINE
Tiphaine, her French partner, trained as a mechanical engineer, after only a couple of years of work, bored and terrified at the idea of spending her life in front of a computer in an office, in an act of awareness or pure madness , decides to give up the well-paid job and thus free hes time to follow what most appeals her: traveling. Their lives interwine and they decide to combine their dreams: travel and explore places and people from everywhere who try to live in other ways and in harmony with nature. €5/day Budget: HOW Unemployed and penniless, anxieties and fears find fertile ground, but Tiphaine and Marco do not give up. With their last savings they calculate a budget of 5 euros a day per person, about 1,800 euros a year, and they choose the bike, a burner and a tent as allies to face this new adventure. Tent = No Hotel ; Fuel Stove = No Restaurant ; Bicycle+Hitchhiking by sailing boat = No trasportation to pay. Once the money problem has been solved, a journey of indefinite duration to unknown destinations begins. |
Cycling and Sailing: WHERE
East, it will be the direction, the curiosity, their compass. The journey will lead them to cross distant lands and enjoy the taste of unknown culture to them. Ride today and ride tomorrow and the two cyclonauts resist the endless Kazakh steppes, retrace the old silk road in Uzbekistan, climb the high peaks of Tajikistan, cross China and conquer the tropical jungles of Southeast Asia to Indonesia. Time passes quickly and it took us a couple of years to reach the other end of the world. Fatigue and homesickness peep out, it's time to come back. Roundabout and the wheels are pointing west. Not by air, land and sea will make all more exciting. Hichthiking by sailing boat they end up to sail four months from Indonesia to Malaysia, then to the Maldives and finally to Oman. In the Middle East they touch again land, then some countries of the ex Soviet Union and Europe is now around the corner.
25,000 kilometers, 6,000 nautical miles, 33 countries and 3 years and 3 months later, they reach the same starting point, always them, yet now so different.
